These are my first drawings, circa 1982-1984. Click on them to see a larger version.
Here's some stuff from 5th Grade, circa 1990-1991. Some topical content from the time, and also some monster/unusual creatures. Some have word balloons.
Here's some drawings from 7th Grade, circa 1992-1993. From an early age I enjoyed drawing unusual forms of biology and fantasy monster images. You can see in these drawings that I started to use the pen as an art tool at about this time.
In 8th grade, I started with Blubber Bunch comics. For the next 4 years, this is what I drew in my spare time. See the Comics page for more Blubber Bunch comics from 1994-1998. I make comics for fun. I do not try to follow the rules of sequential art or try to make them readable or understandable for a wide audience.
This is one of the only drawings I have from high school that is not Blubber Bunch related. I have so many drawings from early childhood, by hardly any from high school. This one was published in a literary magazine.
Here is some of my work from college. They are early Ball-Point Pen experiments. At the time, I cared about photo references and realism a little too much.
Beware of Dorg comics. When I made these, I started to develop a new style, almost by accident. I realized it was because I stopped relying on photo references.
Drawings from 2003 and 2004. Ball Point Pen has become my exclusive medium. I gave up on photo references and attempting realism.
Drawings from 2005 and 2006. I've started to use Colored Ball Point pens instead of just sticking to black and white. I've also started to use photo references again, but I combine stylist techniques and realistic techniques.
