FAQ
The Blubber Bunch has been described as a group of six freaks, each with is own unique traits and abilities, although their abilities are rarely put to practical use. They spend much of their time making fun of each other. They can often be seen working together for a single cause, but can more often be see plotting and getting revenge on one another. These freaks have many enemies who hate them for mostly no reason. All characters in Blubber Bunch stories have the ability to die and come back from the dead over and over again. The Blubber Bunch was created when the Blubber God, living in the Blobular Nebula created the planet JLennia. JLames' Mom and JLames' Dad are from this planet. After a war with a neighboring planet, radioactive blubber was caught in a supernova. Eventually, that radioactive blubber fell to Earth, along with some of JLennia's inhabitants. The radioactive blubber fused with children being born at the time, giving them unusual powers upon entering 7th grade. This, then, is the Blubber Bunch.
Attack of the Blubber Bunch I-IX: stories that span throughout the five years of fatness. They have introduced enemies such as Ghoffer and Grofe, and always involve the Blubber Bunch fighting against someone.
The Blubber Wars: first official story by Nick. The Blubber Bunch fights over the JL shirt and end up all being in the shirt together, thus creating the BLarge One.
Attack of the BLarge One: continuation of “The Blubber Wars.” In trying to separate the Blubber Bunch, others get stuck inside the BLarge One. The BLarge One mutates and eventually explodes back into separate people. JLames then punishes everyone for trying to steal his shirt. Features 1st appearance of Super Tense Nick.
JLames Gets Mad I, II, & III: separate stories in which JLames becomes angry, as his fellow Blubber Bunchers make fun of him. The results are not pleasant.
Dennis Goes Crazy: Jack and Drew’s constant idiocy finally drives Dennis over the edge. As soon as his glasses come off, may heaven help them all.
The JLarge One Gets JLarger: after eating a can of J.A.C’s Brand® Lard (which, unbeknownst to anyone at the time, contained the then unknown element, now called fattium), JLames increases phenomenally in size. He goes on a rampage and eats the President of the United States. All hope is lost as JLames plots to take over the universe. His reign of terror ends when Nick pops him with a pencil.
Dennis Is Saved (the JL Notebook): when a possessed Dennis buys an Apple IIe and is about to marry JLames’ Mom, the Blubber Bunch sets out to rescue him from the evil influence. Features 1st appearance of JLames’ Mom’s face.
’Twas the Night Before Thursday: Richard, Bannon, Mason, JLames, Mike, and Drew have a night on the town as they go on an eating spree and rob Jamesway. Additionally, Richard gave his life savings away to Mike for a pair of useless Velcrap shoes. Everyone is dead by the end of the story.
Dennis vs. Superman I, II, & III: three separate battles in which the Freak takes on the Man of Steel. Part I features the 1st time Dennis is referred to as the “Dennis Creature.”
Doomsday: the most confusing and hard to follow of all the Blubber Bunch stories, and quite possibly the longest. It begins with Jack creating a virus to destroy all the world’s Apple computers. It quickly moves to a showdown between him and JLames, and pretty much goes downhill from there. The story ended with a “To be continued.” Thankfully, it never was.
The Fatboy vs. the Large One: Richard fights Larry the Large One for the Universal Twinkie. Features 1st appearance of the Universal Twinkie and Larry the Large One.
Dennis vs. Jack: a rushed, scribbled story in which Dennis kills a cat, causing Jack to kill Dennis.
The Drew Solo Adventure: story spotlighting Drew, and very unfavorably. Drew’s faults are emphasized as the Blubber Bunch holds a Make Fun of Drew Convention. Worst of all, JLames becomes Normal James and fights Drew to the death.
The Dennis Memorial Issue: Gaelic captures Dennis and brings him to his universe. The Blubber Bunch is never quite the same again.
The Blubber Bunch and the Last Day of School: features the Blubber Bunch’s 8th grade graduation and early predictions about the future.
The Blubber Bunch and the First Day of School: the first day of 9th grade and the inauguration of a year of hell.
Dennis Goes Through Time: Nick accidentally gets on the wrong bus and goes with Dennis to his high school, where Dennis then goes back in time to the day of Dennis Goes Crazy. He is forced to kill Jack and Drew before history can repeat itself. Features 1st appearance of Jordan, Fudgeko (called “John” at the time), Gary the Busdriver, bus 32, and Nick saying “32? 32?! OH NO!”
The Blubber Bunch vs. JLames’ Mom I and II: the Blubber Bunch battles their greatest foe and defeats her. Or do they?
Freaks On Parade (1st series): a four part series in which the Blubber Bunch fights a genetically altered JLames’ Mom. Features 1st appearance of Blubber Bunch Headquarters, the Fatmobile, and the Blubber Gun 2000.
Quest of the JLarge One: after JLames becomes thin for an unknown reason, he goes on a quest to become fat again. Can even the call of the blubber save JLames from total emaciation? Features 1st (and LAST) appearance of “Enemy Man.”
Dennis Goes Crazy II: Dennis’ high school friends follow in the tradition of Jack and Drew, and drive Dennis to the point of violent insanity. A production of Rushed Endings Inc.
The Last Day of 9th Grade: features the welcome end to a horrible era as Nick endures his final nightmarish grilling, but a comment just before the final bell could end up costing him his life.
Jack Annoys People: Jack annoys people.
JLames’ Mom Attacks: after being eaten by JLames’ Mom, the Blubber Bunch encounters Gary in her stomach and try to escape before they are digested. Features 1st appearance of JLames’ Mom Stomach Monsters.
The Other Nick: an evil scientist sends and android duplicate of Nick to kill him and infiltrate the Blubber Bunch.
The Blubber Bunch Christmas: laughs galore as the holiday season is steadily ruined for each Blubber Bunch member, excluding Jack and Mike. By the end, they manage to ruin Doggy Jones’ Christmas too. A production of Bad Christmas Stories Inc.
The Blubber Bunch Back In Time: the Blubber Bunch travels back two years to when they were in 8th grade, but their clueless 8th grade counterparts are stuck in an overwhelming 10th grade. A production of I Can't Believe I Accidentally Left Almost Half a Page Blank Inc.
J.A.C the Insane: after Drew says that he does not fear Jack, nor his claws anymore, Jack goes insane and impersonates Dennis and, quite remarkably, fools everyone.
The Blubber Bunch vs. Grofe: Grofe comes up with his most evil plan yet to destroy the Blubber Bunch. You have to see it to believe it.
Nick’s Plan: stinging words from JLames force Nick to break free from his skinny weakling image. He takes a special bulk formula, but it backfires after he becomes addicted to it.
The Blubbering Bunch: a self-satire of the Blubber Bunch, which points out all of the stupid things about the stories. The end features the 1st appearance of the REAL Blubber Bunch!
Story I Made Because I Was Bored: Nick travels through a blizzard to get to Dennis’
house. Upon his arrival, many pointless things occur.
Midterms: the Blubber Bunch must take their long dreaded 10th grade midterms.
Crazy Nick Goes Crazy: actually written and drawn by Crazy Nick, this story shows how Nick’s environment steadily causes him to lose his sanity and portrays the conflict within him. Features 1st “JLames is fat.”
The Blubber Bunch Substitutes: when every member of the Blubber Bunch becomes violently ill, they must find substitutes to fill in for them. The result is more than they can bear to watch.
Friggin’ High School: Nick’s day goes from bad to worse after he misses the school bus and is stranded at the one place he hates most (see title).
The Return of 9th Grade: the worst era in Blubber Bunch history becomes personified into the ultimate being of evil. His first target is Dennis.
The JLarge One Lives: JLames battles the newly personified 9th Grade.
Gary Goes Crazy: Gary goes crazy and drives his bus through everything and everyone, causing problems for all.
The Super Story: sixty pages in three chapters combine to make the ultimate story, perfectly depicting the pointless saga that is the Blubber Bunch. Features every Blubber Bunch cast and supporting cast member in existence at that time.
The Untold Stories of 7th Grade: this series of short stories, combining into one, tells the tale of the year where it all began.
Day of the Blubber Bunch: Jack’s first story since “Doomsday” and his one true masterpiece. In an unusual chain of events, the Blubber Bunch experiences a fantastic streak of good luck, avoiding all potential problems and later defeating their enemies during a party at the Mariott Hotel.
Attack of the JL.A.C: In an alternate universe, where Grofe is a member of the Blubber Bunch, Drew is their #1 enemy, and Jack is the JLarge One, an epic battle takes place, causing JL.A.C to be caught in an amplified Drew sneeze, sending him to the not-alternate universe, where he then wreaks havoc and battles the local Blubber Bunch. Features 1st appearance of alternate universe Blubber Bunch and the Hall of JLargeness.
Secret of the Other Nick: during the weeks that Nick spends in the All Star Trek Chamber, the Other Nick seizes the opportunity to take his place in the Blubber Bunch. When the real Nick returns, he’s labeled as an impostor and many problems occur.
The Evil: the Blubber Bunch confronts the very cause of the suckquiousness of the first two years of high school. The resulting battle will determine the fate of their remaining high school careers.
Plot to Kill the Blubber Bunch: JLames eats through the table again, not knowing that this time, there’s a bomb on the other side, which subsequently blows off his face and several chins. This sets off a chain of events resulting in the death of the entire Blubber Bunch.
In the Future parts I, II, & III: a three part story depicting what might become of the Blubber Bunch in the early 21st century.
The Return of Larry the Large One: after over two years of obscurity, Larry the Large One returns to destroy the Blubber Bunch, the Bameses, and yes, even JLames’ Mom! Can anyone possibly defeat him?
The Blubber Bunch I & II: two short stories that make you realize just how pointless this whole thing is.
Revenge of the Ass: fed up with JLames’ constant sitting, JLames’ Ass detaches itself and kills JLames. Jack then kills JLames’ Ass.
11th Grade Begins: the Blubber Bunch embarks on yet another year at High School.
Death of the Bag: 9th Grade sends Nick back to 9th grade and Nick will do anything to get out of there, even if it means sacrificing the sacred Blubber Bunch story bag of 8th grade.
Funny: assorted comical events that took place during the Blubber Bunch’s junior year of high school.
The Bizarro Blubber Bunch: in an attempt to make the Bizarro Blubber Bunch larger, Bizarro LJames brings the duplicator ray to Earth to make more of them, but not if the real Blubber Bunch can help it.
The Blubber Bunch vs. the Legion of Lard I, II, & III: stories in which the Blubber Bunch battles the Legion of Lard. Part III even has a special appearance by the Universal Twinkie and the destruction of the Hall of JLargeness!
Crazy Nick Goes Crazy Again: it is just not Nick’s day as just about everything goes wrong, ticking him off more and more until, finally, Crazy Nick goes crazy. Again.
The Real Blubber Bunch: a short story featuring a realistically drawn Blubber Bunch sitting around their headquarters wasting time as usual.
JLames Is Fat: the first of many stories that explore the hilarious relationship between Jack and JLames. It also begins the slow, but steady process of Jack’s transition from JLames’ friend to his “nemesis.”
Lunch: the sad, but true depiction of lunchtime at High School.
Drew’s Adventure in the Alternate Universe: shortly after dropping out of high school, Drew is accidentally zapped into the alternate universe, where he is captured and tortured by the alternate universe Blubber Bunch, who believe him to be their #1 enemy.
Return of the Apple: immediately after discovering fattium, Albert Fat is possessed by the Apple and only one Bunch can save him. Features 1st appearance of Albert Fat and fattium.
Attack on JLames’ Mom: after JLames’ Mom levels parts of Twin Rivers and Hightstown, the Blubber Bunch organizes a full-scale assault on the Where They Keep JLames’ Mom Building, enlisting the help of Gary, Doggy Jones, and Mr. Jones. But when JLames’ Mom learns of the attack, they find that’s it’s not going to be easy. All that and the Legion of Lard too!
By Any Other Bames: JLames just can’t take Jack’s taunts anymore and changes his name to Jack Se7en, a name that not even Jack can make fun of. This, in effect, causes all International Bames Conventions to be canceled for life. What is Jack to do?
The International Bames Convention: there are three stories that bear this name, all of which show all the fun of an International Bames Convention.
Astonishing Tales of the Blubber Bunch: Nick needed his pencils, Dennis needed his freedom, Mike needed his pants. Jack wanted power, Drew wanted girls, JLames wanted revenge. Arguably the best written of all the Blubber Bunch stories, each plot smoothly moves into the next, until they all converge at the end in a literal “CRASH,” complete with a cameo appearance by Doggy Jones! How can you go wrong?
The Lost Story: actually written in 1999, but set in September 1997. Jack plots to bring the Universal Twinkie to Earth, Avery plots to rub out Nick once and for all, and JLames plots to humiliate Jack on live television. Each plot backfires. Features Larry the Large One and the final fate of the Universal Twinkie.
The JLarge One at JLarge: JLames robs the Twinkie vault at the Hostess Foods Corporation and Jack could a bad drawing of a cat to bring him to justice.
JLarger Than Life: Grofe finally makes contact with his home planet and East Windsor is subsequently invaded by shape-shifters. All this leads up to the ultimate and final showdown between the Blubber Bunch and the Blubber Bunch Enemies.
The Blubber Bunch Forever: the last chapter in the five years of fatness. JLames comes up with his ultimate plan to get revenge on Jack and makes him fat by the use of fattium. This alerts the Legion of Lard and results in their final battle with the Blubber Bunch. Meanwhile, Jack and JLames engage in a fat war and wake up an angry JLames’ Mom in the process. The fat war has an unexpected outcome and the story concludes with a… “touching” poem by Jack.
The Dennis Creature: Dennis spends a month in the all Star Trek chamber. His resulting mutation destroys many. The story ends with “This story never ends.”
Nick vs. Jordan: Nick and Jordan fight over who is better friends with Dennis. Dennis kills them both. First ink story since Attack of the Blubber Bunch I.
The Blubber Bunch Returns Again: Richard disguised as Joe disguised as Drew starts killing off Blubber Bunch members. After he is killed, Jack is risen up incorrectly and goes on a killing spree until Drew uses Super Drew Grease to kill him. Drew is then killed by an unknown assailant.
The REAL Blubber Bunch Millennium Party: The events in this story are not real. Nick gets the Superman suit back from “JLy 3rd: Birth of a Freak” and fights the Blubber Bunch. A production of No Pencil Sharpener Enterprises.
Jack’s Doomsday: Dennis kills Jack by making him watch the all Star Trek channel.
Mike vs. Dennis: The Blubber Bunch kills Mike.
The Return of the JLarger JLarge One: Jlames accidentally eats some JAC Brand Lard and becomes JLarger. Nick saves the day. A production of Pretty Damn Spiffy Stories Incorporated.
The Origins of the Blubber Bunch Enemies: A list of Blubber Bunch Enemies. A production of Covers with Wrongly Spelled Words Incorporated.
Attack of the Jack Creature: A Sequel to Jack’s Doomsday, Jack enters the All Star Trek Chamber. Nick defeats him in a remarkably similar way to how Dennis defeated him in Jack’s Doomsday.
Son of Grove Lart: Grove Lart’s son gets killed by the Blubber Bunch. Features the 1st (and last) appearance of Son of Grove Lart. A production of Pointless Stories Incorporated.
Nick vs. Avery: Nick kills Avery.
The Dennis Creature Attacks: Dennis is driven crazy in a similar way that he is driven crazy in the stories that bare the name. He ends up attacking.
Gary Does Something: Gary kills JLames by hiding inside a cake and blowing him up from the inside.
Jack vs. Drew: Jack slashes a Magic Card and they fight. They then reminisce about how they met each other. Dennis kills them both.
Nick vs. The World: Nick is troubled by both JAC and his teachers. They win.
Day of the High School 2: The Blubber Bunch goes to their first day of high school. Written well before this actually happened.
Return of the Blubber Bunch II: Touted as the “Sequel to more than one story”, the Blubber Bunch meets for a Millennium celebration. JLames’ Dad is brought back from the dead by Grofe and kills the Blubber Bunch. The events in this story have nothing to do with the events in The REAL Blubber Bunch Millennium Party.
Where the Wild JAC’s Roam: JAC wins a trip to deepest darkest West Virgina and becomes ruler of the Wild JAC’s.
The JLarge One vs. Drew: JAC instigates a fight between JLames and Drew. When they find out JAC is behind their fight, The JLarge One declares war on JAC. This story is continued in The JLarge One vs. JAC.
The Last Day of 7th Grade: The group declares themselves to be a Bunch of some kind.
The JLarge One vs. JAC: JAC and JLames fight. JAC uses his breath to turn JLames into himself. Concluded in JAC vs. JAC.
The Real Death of the JLarge One: The JLarge One defeats Grofe for the last time and then dies from his 184th coronary.
Drew vs. Nick: Drew attacks Nick for making him have a big nose in his stories. Nick defeats him by holding his nose before he sneezes. Part of the Earth is destroyed.
JAC vs. JAC: JAC fights the JLarge One that he turned into himself. The JLarge One that is now JAC turns JAC into the JLarge One.
The Leader of the Blubber Bunch Enemies!: The Blubber Bunch meets their top enemy, who decided to make himself known. JLames’ Mom ends up killing him. One would wonder how the Leader of the Blubber Bunch Enemies does not know about JLame’s Mom, the Blubber Bunch’s top enemy.
The Blubber Bunch on the Phone: Dennis unsuccessfully tries to call several Blubber Bunch members. This leads to an atomic explosion of some kind.
Return of the Unsuccessful Blubber Bunch Enemies: The Unsuccessful Blubber Bunch enemies return and prove why they are unsuccessful.
The Blubber Bunch vs. Gary: The Bunch fights Gary. A production of The Blubber Bunch vs. Gary Inc.
The Blubber Bunch ’94: The Bunch commemorates their initial year. A production of Worst Cover of a Blubber Bunch Story Inc.
The Blubber Bunch Returns: In the year 2002(story written in 1994), Jack has an accident in his lab, causing the Blubber Bunch to reunite to defeat him.
The Blubber Bunch in High School: The Blubber Bunch visits Dennis’ High School and they are all happy to see each other.
The JLarge One Becomes Normal JLames: The JLarge One surprises everyone by becoming Normal JLames. A production of Cheap Stories Inc.
The other JLarge One: JAC becomes the JLarge One in order to wreak havoc. He scratches Nick.
The Freak and the Bad Week: Dennis has a bad week at high school. The world explodes at the end.
The Revenge of Nick: Bad story about Nick killing Dennis’ high school friends.
The Fastest Blubber Bunch Story Ever Made: JAC goes on a maiming spree. At the end, a disfigured Blubber Bunch shows their pride.
The Revised Revised Epilogue of the Blubber Bunch: The famous epilogue revised again.
Summer of the Blubber Bunch 1999: A dying Grofe decides to take the form of JAC and start killing Blubber Bunch members. A new group of evil defeats him and the rest of the Bunch. JAC and Nick survive because they used their robot clones.
Assassination Plot starring The Mirror Blubber Bunch: The Mirror Bunch kills mirror Mike. A production of Stories That End in Odd Places Incorporated.
Nick Goes Crazy: JAC gets out of line in his requests for stories made by Nick. Nick goes crazy.
Summer of the Blubber Bunch: Blubber Bunch members separately occupy themselves in the summer of 1994.
Nick Goes to Dennis's High School: Nick sees where Dennis goes to high school and that's about it. A production of Scribbled Stories Inc.
The Blubber Bunch Space Adventure: The Blubber Bunch gets chosen to go into space without any astronaut training. They meet a new opponent. 1st appearance of J.O.N.E.S. A production of I Couldn't Think of Any Funny Company Names For This Story Inc.
The Adventures of Nick and Mike: Nick gets annoyed by Mike's idiotic antics. Continued in Nick vs. Mike.
Nick vs. Mike: Nick and Mike get in a never-ending fight to the death. A production of Poorly Written But Goodly Drawn Stories Inc.
My stories look like garbage for two reasons. One reason is that I was 14-16 years old when I made most of them. The other reason is that I made them in my spare time and rushed in making them. Nick DeStefano took a lot more time and patience in making his stories, and he followed sequential art making procedures.
This is how the timeline runs based on several stories. Written by Nick DeStefano and myself.
Unknown time: The Blubber God creates JLennia
The Blubber God creates JLames’ Mom and eventually all other
inhabitants of the planet, including JLames’ Dad.
1968: JLennia is at war with Kybernan.
1970: JLennia is destroyed, creates huge shockwave through space.
May 24, 1979: Radioactive blubber falls to Earth and creates Drew.
January 10, 1980: Radioactive Blubber falls to Earth and creates Mike.
May 21, 1980: more blubber falls, creates Dennis.
June 21, 1980: more blubber falls, creates Jack.
July 3, 1980: more blubber falls, creates Nick.
JLy 19, 1980: JLames’ Mom, Large Ones, and last of radioactive blubber fall to Earth.
JLames is born.
Late 1980’s, Early 1990’s: The blubber beings all meet each other separately at separate
times and separate places.
1992: All six beings are in the same place together for the first time at the
6th grade picnic. All six begin going to same school together as 7th grade begins.
1993: The Blubber Bunch is officially formed.
1994: The Blubber Bunch graduates 8th grade and starts high school.
Late 1994 to Mid 1995: 9th grade, the worst era in the history of the Blubber Bunch.
Late 1995 to Mid 1996: 10th grade, the Blubber Bunch terminology and supporting cast
grow immensely.
Late 1996 to Mid 1997: 11th grade, Drew temporarily leaves High School, the Journal
begins, fattium is discovered, among other new elements.
Summer 1997: The Summer of Nick.
Late 1997 to Mid 1998: 12th grade, Drew returns to High School to attend night school,
The Blubber Bunch partakes in their final year.
Summer 1998: High school graduation, the reign of the Blubber Bunch comes to an end.
Late 1998: JLames’ Mom will die of an unknown cause. JLames will enlist in the Navy
For Fat.
Summer of 1999: Grofe, assuming he will die, takes the form of JAC in a plot to kill the Blubber Bunch.
December 31, 1999: Blubber Bunch Reunion, Grofe will return to bring JLames’ Dad
back from the dead (no one knows how or when he died) to kill the
Bunch. In another timeline, Nick finds his Superman costume and fights the rest of the Bunch.
2000: JAC becomes a shapeshifter so he could a bad drawing of a cat.
2001: JAC returns to human form and forgets about the Blubber Bunch.
2002: JAC have an accident at his Lab, cause the Bunch to reunite to defeat him with J:ame's Mom, who is mysteriously alive. Nick becomes a famous comic book guy and attempts to sell his comics on the Home Shopping Network so that he may go along with the original Epilogue of the Blubber Bunch.
2004: JAC becomes rich and buys rich person clothes(clothes with dollar signs all over them). Because he is a shapeshifter, JAC lives forever.
2005: Drew starts his car company that specializes in making nose-shaped cars.
2006: Drew attempts to kill all members of the Blubber Bunch with his car. He then becomes a circus freak known as “The Nose”, remembering that he did it for a week in 2002, the same week JAC had his accident.
2012: JLames will sue Nick for a JLillion dollars for using him in his comic. Nick them becomes a serial killer. Drew, taking a break from his work as the Nose, takes over every Role-Playing Game company. Alternate Universe JAC arrives in our universe and could a bad drawing of a cat. Mike discovers the acne-away plant and becomes rich. Somehow he forgets about the plant and loses all his money until 2018. Gary runs into the Urge to Kill the Blubber Bunch and attacks Nick and Dennis.
December 21, 2012 06:21: A notebook JAC read once explodes.
2013: Grofe will return once again to kill the Blubber Bunch by bringing JLames’ Mom
back to life.
2015: Drew is killed when someone tears his nose off.
2018: Mike discovers the Acne-away plant again.
2022: Mike becomes a film maker and buys rich-person clothes. His two most successful films are The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks and Space Station Delta SSD.
2027: Dennis changes his name to Nennis in order to go along with the Revised Epilogue of the Blubber Bunch. He then goes on a killing spree and kills many, including himself. After killing 147 people, Nick kills himself at Dennis’ Funeral in order to go along with the Revised Epilogue of the Blubber Bunch.
2030: Mike dies during the filming of “Dear Senator Bradley”.
2154: JLames will die after having his 184th coronary.
